Vrnjačka Banja is situated in the central part of Republic of Serbia, 200 kilometers south of Belgrade. Vrnjačka banja is a true pearl of the Serbian spa tourism. The spa town is partly situated on the slopes of the Goc Mountain in the direction of river Zapadna Morava and partly in the pleasant valleys of Vrnjačka and Lipovačka rivers.

Depending on the position of different parts of the village, the altitude of Vrnjačka banja goes from 220 up to 300 meters. From the south, east and west side, it is screened by the Goč Mountain and from the north by Gledićke Mountain, not being exposed to strong winds.

The mountainous area of Vrnjacka Banja, with Goč mountain, is a part of large forested mountainous massif of Kopaonik, which is in the background of Vrnjačka Banja. Apart from the mountains Goč (1.147m) and Kopaonik (2.017m) there are other mountains nearby, namely Željin (1.785m), Jastrebac (1.492m) and Stolovi (1.375m).

This large forested massif with more than thousand hectares best depicts the natural surrounding of Vrnajčka Banja. The spa tourist area is formed of green valleys with many mountain brooks and rivers that are reaching their way to Zapadna Morava. All these brooks and rivers are rich in trout. There are other large rivers namely Ibar on the west and Rasina in the east.

There are many historical and cultural monuments close to Vrnjačka banja, namely the Ziča monastery, the capital of Serbian Orthodox Church.

Nearby is the Monastery Studenica, one of the most beautiful monasteries in Serbia, founded by Stefan Nemanja, who was also the founder of the first medieval Serbian Kingdom.
The visit to Vrnjacka Banja offers you not only nice and relaxing gateway, but many possibilities for different kinds of visits of cultural and historical heritage of Serbia.
There are reliable data that the people of the village Vrnjci and the places nearby used warm mineral water for drinking and bathing in the middle of the 19th century.

However, the history of the modern spa in Vrnjci is connected with the formation of the Foundation Society of Sour and Hot Water in Vrnjci in 1868. In the same year, two springs were capped and the construction of spa buildings and bathrooms has begun.

For more than one century Vrnjačka Banja has attracted many people with its mineral waters and natural beauties. Its large parks were made hundred years ago by the famous gardeners of that time and are now unique in Serbia.
